Am I at Risk of Vascular Disease?

High Blood Pressure

Elevated blood pressure puts added strain on the blood vessels, increasing the risk of developing vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, peripheral artery disease, stroke, and more.

High Cholesterol

High levels of cholesterol, particularly LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, can lead to the formation of plaque in the arteries, narrowing the blood vessels and increasing the risk of developing vascular diseases.

Smoking

Smoking damages the blood vessels, promotes the formation of plaque, and decreases overall blood flow. It significantly raises the risk of developing various vascular diseases, including coronary artery disease and peripheral artery disease.

Diabetes

Individuals with diabetes are at an increased risk of developing vascular diseases due to high blood sugar levels, which can damage the blood vessels over time. Diabetes can lead to conditions such as peripheral artery disease, and an increased risk of heart disease.

Before and After Photos

76-year-old man with a non-healing wound for over a year. He has a long-standing history of diabetes, has never smoked, and is still a teacher at a local community college, but had to switch to part time due to medical issues. Had amputation done on the lateral part of his foot, complicated with infection and not healing despite aggressive wound care. Was told he would need a below correct the knee amputation. Came to see us for a second opinion. After one procedure, his foot arteries were opened and within the next 8 to 10 weeks the wound healed completely. He is back to teaching full-time and is walking with no issues of his foot.
